What is your role and function at WPS?
As Procurement Manager, I spend a majority of my days working closely with vendors to ensure the items we purchase are not only cost-effective but provide the quality that our customers expect.
What issues or needs are you an advocate for inside the company?
One of my primary focuses is the safety compliance of items included in our proprietary test kits such as the ADOS-2. I have been working diligently to ensure the products we supply are not only safe but ideal in order to allow for optimal assessment results.
How long have you been at WPS?
I started working here in 2012. In the last several years, I have seen WPS streamline processes and implement several best practices that have improved productivity and efficiency.
Where are you from? Where did you grow up?
I am originally from South Florida and moved to Torrance when I was 8. At age 18, I left for the military and spent the next several years between East Georgia and Upstate South Carolina. I returned to California in 2012 and found a home here at WPS.
Three personal things about you people probably wouldn’t know:
I know almost every line in every episode of Friends; I love to cook and try new recipes; My favorite book series of all time is J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter which my daughter and I read together.
What’s a big obstacle you’ve had to overcome in your life or career?
Moving across the country and starting over in my personal and professional life. It was scary and intimidating but has turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.
What’s your personal connection to the WPS mission?
My personal connection has morphed over the years. Initially, I was simply happy to be employed after moving across the country. Over the years, I have grown to love and appreciate the products and services that WPS provides. Now, when considering purchases, I think about the end-user and those who benefit from our products and services. It truly makes me feel elated to be a part of providing A+ customer service at WPS.
What is your educational background?
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Global Supply Chain Management.
What’s something you’re currently studying or learning?
I am currently studying to pass the test to become a licensed customs broker. This will further allow me to ensure all items we include in our products are in accordance with federal safety standards.
What do you enjoy most about working at WPS?
Other than the excellent people… I get to bargain shop and negotiate deals a majority of my day. I love saving money both in my personal and professional life.
What did you use to do before WPS?
I served in the United States Army for 9 years after high school as a Logistics Specialist. After the Army, I went to school and worked as a Veterinary Technician until I moved back to California.
