About This Product

BY SUSAN SWINDEMAN, OTR/L, MAUREEN KANE-WINELAND, PHD, OT/L, AND DIANA A. HENRY, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA

Tools for Infants is a user-friendly book filled with sensory-based strategies, or tools, to help promote optimal development in infants and help them feel sensory-safe in their daily activities and routines. These include eating, dressing, playing, bathing, and sleeping. Parents, family members, caregivers, daycare providers, early intervention providers, therapists, pediatricians, and other medical or educational professionals can use the strategies based on sensory integration theory found in this book.

Although sensory challenges may coexist with many diagnoses such as prematurity, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and autism, Tools for Infants is not designed for a specific diagnosis. It can be used with any child who is typically developing, at risk for developmental challenges, or those with a medical diagnosis. In any situation, the tools in this book aim to promote optimal development for all infants.

“They’ve done it again! The authors offer anyone caring for or working with an infant with sensory processing challenges a buffet of practical sensory tools that can be easily incorporated into a baby’s daily routines.”
