Description of Webinar

This webinar provides guidance in linking TOD results to interventions. Barbara Wendling, MA, will explain how a TOD evaluation can inform instructional planning and help determine appropriate interventions to address the diverse needs of struggling readers. The principles of effective learning and instruction will be presented along with specific evidence-based interventions in phonemic awareness, phonics, orthography, and fluency.

  • Describe the role of evaluation in preparing an informed instructional plan;
  • Utilize TOD results to determine appropriate interventions;
  • Explain the principles of effective learning and instruction; and
  • Identify evidence-based interventions for key areas typically impaired for individuals with dyslexia.

Webinar Completion Requirements


This webinar provides the opportunity to earn 1.5 live continuing education (CE) credits for full course attendance. Certificates of Completion equivalent to 1.5 contact hours of professional CE credit will be provided upon satisfactory completion of webinar requirements. In order to receive the Certificate of Completion for the webinar, participants must be present for the entire course. They must also complete the Post-course Evaluation Survey at the end of the webinar. No partial credit will be awarded.

Presenter Bio(s)


Barbara J. Wendling is an author and consultant with 15 years of clinical experience as an educator and diagnostician in public schools. Additionally, she has taught university courses, worked in educational and test publishing, and served as the education director of the Woodcock-Muñoz Foundation as well as the director of the Richard Woodcock Institute. She received an MA in learning disabilities from Northeastern University and an Administration and Supervisory Certificate from Northwestern University. 

 

Wendling is co-author of the Tests of Dyslexia (TOD), as well as several publications on assessment and intervention, including Essentials of Dyslexia Assessment and Intervention, Essentials of WJ IV Tests of Achievement, Essentials of Evidence-Based Academic Interventions, and Writing Assessment and Instruction for Students with Learning Disabilities. In addition, she has been extensively involved in the development of several widely used clinical assessments, serving as a consultant, writing test items and manuals, developing training materials, and conducting numerous workshops nationwide.
